Anambra State Commissioner for Works, Mr Marcel Ifejiofor says everything is ready for the commencement of commercial flight operations at the Anambra International Cargo and Passenger Airport, Umueri in Anambra East Local Government Area.

He stated this at the airport, while speaking to the ABS.

Government House Correspondent, Ejike Abana  recalled  that in a letter to Governor Willie Obiano dated first December, 2021, the Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority Captain Musa Nuhu approved commencement of  flight operations at the airport, with effect from December second.

The Aviation regulator had cited security as reason for the delay but revealed that relevant security agencies had given clearance for commercial flight operations at the airport, stating that only Category B aircraft have been temporarily cleared to land and take off from the airport.

Mr Ifejiofor expressed optimism that before the end of the year, the airport will be further upgraded to operate Category 4F, with the arrival of the fire trucks.

Mr Ifejiiofor an Engineer noted that the airport had been ready before the thirtieth of October 2021 when the official flight operations was slated, thanked the Governor for pushing to make his dream a reality, though he is on leave, adding that it was a rare opportunity to work closely with him on the project.

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority clearance permits approved airlines including, Air Peace Airline, Ibom Air, Dana Air, Anap Jets, among others to commence flight scheduling into and out of Anambra State.
