Sequel to the third convention of the Joint Council of Knights, Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, the former Minister of Aviation, Mr. Osita Chidoka has called on the knights to remain proactive in engaging the youths on sustainable programmes as well as ventures that would not keep them redundant.
Mr. Chidoka, made the call during a paper presentation at the convention titled, “engaging the youths in the sustainable development of Nigeria”.
The former Minister who joined virtually stated that unemployment of the youths has led to various crimes affecting the society, adding that inability of the government to provide jobs for the youths have seriously led to youth restiveness.
He beckoned on the Council of Knights to invest in education for the wellbeing of the youths and adopt a holistic approach that will enable them to reform the education system.
In another paper presentation, titled ” Improving the Nigeria Electoral System through a nonpartisan electoral umpire and meaningful engagement of electorates”, the Former Minister of Power, Professor Chinedu Nebo, stated that the independence of the electoral management body should be guaranteed and totally nonpartisan.
A guest speaker who spoke on the role of Knights in the future of the church of Nigeria, Professor Benjamin Osisioma, reminded the Knights of their responsibility as people of proven character called to serve Christ.
In their various remarks, the Chairman on the Ocassion, Dr. Okey Eze, the President, Awka council of knights, Dr. Emma Emelummadu, and the Chairman Planning Committee, Sir. Emma Ezenwaji, noted that the three day convention would play a significant role for proper propagation of the gospel of Christ.
