Anambra State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Mr. Adeoye Irelewuyi has said that the command will deploy all human and material resources to ensure a smooth Christmas season in the State.
Mr. Irelewuyi who stated this in his office at the Anambra FRSC headquarters, Awka, noted that though the command had begun ‘Ember Month’ sensitization and awareness campaign on road safety tips, it is liaising with relevant government agencies to ensure that some identified spots on the roads are fixed to avert traffic gridlocks and mishaps.
Correspondent Daniel Ezeigwe reports that while stating that about five hundred regular marshalls and six hundred special marshalls have been scheduled for patrol across the state during the period, the FRSC Sector Commander also disclosed that patrol hours have been moved down to beyond 6pm to accommodate road users coming in or leaving the state at night.
He reassured all road users plying Anambra roads during the Christmas season for their safety, but appealed to them to be cautious at all times.
On the issue of hauling off heavy duty vehicles involved in accidents off the roads on time, Mr. Irelewuyi said that while the Commission takes fast actions in that regard, vehicles conveying hazardous and inflammable substances must have their products transloaded before they could be towed away.
