The Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Public Account has said that it will expose any local government that does not follow due process in the award of contracts to encourage transparency in local government accounting system.
House of Assembly Correspondent Chukwuemeka Modilim reports that the chairman of the committee, Sir Somtochukwu Udeze disclosed this when the management staff of Anaocha Local Government Area appeared before the committee for the verification of their audited account for the year 2020.
The Carsommittee after looking into the financial records of the local government with regards to the year under review, observed that it followed due process in award of contracts.
It also commended them for providing all the documents that enabled them discharge their duties creditably and for keeping their records straight.
In his remark, the Transition Committee chairman, Anaocha Local Government Area, Mr. Patrick Onyedum, noted that he had always made due process his guiding principles in running the affairs of the council and thanked the committee for being on top of its job, assuring that his council area will always set the pace in the management of public resources.
