The Pentecostal brethren and the entire Christian Community in Nnewi and environs over the weekend gathered for the consecration and enthronement of Right Reverend Doctor Onyebuchi Godwin, as the Bishop of the Believers General Assembly, Nnewi.
The consecration and enthronement were conducted by the Pentecostal Bishops Association of Anambra State Incorporated.
ABS Nnewi Bureau Chief,Chimezie Umeh reports that the event commenced with a special service, presided over by the Episcopal President, Pentecostal Association, Anambra State Chapter, Right Reverend Austin Nwodika.
In his homily, Right Reverend Nwodika charged the brethren to go into the world and be that light obtained from God through Baptism.
Speaking after his consecration and enthronement, Bishop Godwin thanked the Archbishops, Bishops and the entire congregation for finding him worthy of the elevation and promised to work very hard in winning souls for Christ.
The new Bishop, who hails from Nnobi in Idemili South Local Government Area, thanked his people for turning out in large numbers to witness the ordination, just as he hailed the spirit of ecumenism witnessed during the ceremony.
In his remark, the chairman of the Planning Committee, Right Reverend Dr Ozioma Ozoemena, thanked God for his favours and blessings and congratulated Dr Godwin on his episcopal consecration and enthronement.
Dignitaries that graced the occasion were the college of Bishops led by the chairman, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Anambra State chapter, Right Reverend Dr. Moses Ezedebego, the Bishop, Diocese of Nnewi, Anglican Communion, Right Reverend Ndubuisi Obi, represented by Venerable Nelson Ilouno.
Others include, the royal fathers, led by the traditional ruler of Nnewi, Igwe Kenneth Orizu, Pastors and elders of the church, as well as legal luminaries, who administered Ecclesiastical Oath to the new Bishop.
Members of the United Nations Peace and Positive Living Awareness Centre, UN-PEPOLAC were also in attendance to show solidarity to a Mayor of Peace.
Among the peace ambassadors present was the Director of News and Current Affairs Department of the ABS, Awka, Mr. Gab Okpalaeze.
The episcopal ordination climaxed with the robing of the new Bishop, presentation of office regalia, prayers and praise worship.
