The Commissioner for Basic Education, Professor Kate Omenugha has called on communities in Anambra State to eschew personal interests and work for the collective good of their communities.
Professor Omenugha who was addressing a meeting of Ufuma community stakeholders convened to discuss how to optimally utilize the facilities provided at the proposed Model School attracted by Mrs Uzo Obi, an old girl of the Community Secondary School in Ufuma, Orumba North Local Govt Area, charged the community to ensure the protection of facilities provided in their school.
She urged the Community to deploy their local vigilante groups to ensure security of the facilities while Government considers other issues.
Professor Omenugha informed the Community of the need to constitute a committee for the purpose of articulating for Government’s consideration, how best they want the facilities at the school to be optimally utilized.
Speaking on behalf of the Ufuma Community, the traditional ruler, Igwe Chika Uchime requested for the name of the school to be changed to Model Community Secondary School Ufuma, renovation of staff quarters, provision of dormitory facilities, perimeter fencing and posting of teachers.
