The Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Tenders Board and Procurement has commenced verification of contracts executed by government Ministries Agencies and Departments to ascertain if they were done in line with Procurement Act.

 

House of Assembly Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim reports that the meeting which commenced yesterday, is holding in the Anambra State House of Assembly Complex.

 

In his remarks, the Chairman of Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Tender Board and Procurement, Honourable Chuka Ezenwunne explained that the committee is determined to ensure that MDA’s are complying with procurement Act 2011 as amended, which was designed to entrench due process, transparency, reduce leakages and corruption in doing government business.

 

The key officials of the Ministry of Lands led by the Commissioner for Lands, Mr. Bonaventure Enemali appeared before the committee for the verification of contracts awarded by the Ministry in 2020.

 

The committee however observed that the Ministry did not violate the Procurement Act and commended them for employing transparency in doing government business.

 

On his part, the Commissioner for Lands, Mr. Enemali applauded the committee for ensuring that things are done in accordance with the law in Anambra State and for guiding them to put their records in order
