Persons  with Disabilities in Anambra State have inspected accessibility features of Anambra International Passenger and Cargo Airport, Umueri, and described it as a world class facility.

 

The group led by the Chairman, Anambra State Disability Rights Commission, Barrister Chuks Ezewuzie were conducted round the Airport by the State Commissioner for Works, Engineer Marcel Ifejiofor.

Correspondent Chibuzor Okoye was part of the inspection tour and  reports that while speaking during the inspection, Barrister Ezewuzie said Governor Willie Obiano has done tremendously well for their members, and noted that the Governor has their members in mind in whatever policy or programme his administration had embarked upon for the past seven years.

Barrister Ezewuzie revealed that the Anambra Airport has all accessibility features required of every standard Airport around the world, such a wheelchair ramp, braille marks, lights that guide deaf and dump, among others, and described Governor Obiano as one of the best Governors in Nigeria.

 

Earlier, the State Commissioner for Works, Engineer Ifejiofor said persons with disabilities were put into consideration at the conception and design of the Airport, and commended Governor Obiano for establishing the State Disability Rights Commission.

In a vote of thanks, the Chairman, Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities, Comrade Ugochukwu Okeke eulogized Governor Obiano for all he has done for them, and prayed God to bless him.

 

The Special Assistant to Governor Obiano on Special Sports, Mrs. Esther Nwodika, as well as his Sing Language Communication counterpart, Mr. Collins Joseph were among numerous others that graced the event.
