As part of activities marking the 2021 Universal Health Coverage, the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency has organised a One-Day Free Medical Outreach, Health Education and Sensitization for formal and informal ASHIA enrollees.
The event held at the Jerome Udoji State Secretariat Complex Awka has its theme as “Leave no one’s health behind: invest in health systems for all”.
Speaking to the ABS, the Executive Secretary of Anambra State Health Insurance Agency, Dr Simon Onyemaechi said the exercise was in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Three, Target Eight, which is to achieve Universal Health Coverage for all.
United Nations set aside since 2008, the twelfth of every December as International Universal Health Coverage Day.
Medical examinations like, Blood Pressure, Pulse, Weight, Height, Ophthalmoscopy amongst others are some of the tests participants undergone during the event.
Dr. Onyemaechi who is also the Special Adviser to Governor Willie Obiano on health maintained that What they intend to achieve with the exercise is to ensure that the beneficiaries are well and healthy through the outreach programme.
The Anambra State Head of Service, Barrister Harry Udu, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, Mr. Dan Ezeanwu among other Permanent Secretaries and Senior Staff of the Anambra State Civil Service were among those that benefited from the outreach programme.
