The death has occurred of a former managing director of Anambra Broadcasting Service, Mrs Edna Izuora. Late Mrs Edna Izuora, who was a television icon, died on December 13, 2021.
A versatile personality, she would fondly be remembered for anchoring Tortoise Club, a children’s programme that was shown by ECBS, Enugu, which was very popular in the seventies.
Mrs Izuora, who became the first female managing director of ABS, brought a lot of innovations to the station, with her rich background in programming, and she successfully mentored a great many stars of the tube, that came after her. Her GRA Enugu residence, and her country home at Ogidi freely accommodated many upcoming staff of the establishment, even long after her retirement.
She was 92 years old, and hailed from Ogidi, Idemili North local government area of Anambra state. Late Mrs Izuora was contemporary to Chief Pete Edochie, late Chief Ikem Ikeobi, Chief Uche Udedibia, Mrs Elizabeth Okaro of NTA, Linda Menakaya of Radio Nigeria, and a host of other broadcast personalities.
