The Anambra state Government said the synergy between government and media practitioners in the states has helped in no small measures in keeping Ndi Anambra abreast with government programmes and policies.

The Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr C. Don Adinuba stated this when he received members of Nigeria Union of Journalists, ABS Chapel, who paid him a courtesy visit at his office, at the Jerome Udorji Secretariate Complex, Awka.

Receiving the group led by its caretaker committee chairman Comrade Ejike Abana, Mr Adinuba said that the present administration has done well in the state-owned media stations like the ABS and National Light by offsetting the back log of pension and gratuities owed retired staff of the stations.

Mr Adinuba thanked the chapel for the visit and noted that the media is an important tool for social mobilization, which made the state government give Anambra Broadcasting Service its pride of place with state-of-the-art broadcast equipment, promising that the ministry will give the chapel the needed cooperation it needs, even as he extolled the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ABS, Dr Uche Nworah for being on top of the game.

In his remark during the visit, Mr. Abana said that the reason for the visit was for the new executive of the NUJ chapel to familiarize with him while seeking his advice and cooperation for the growth of the chapel and members.

He also appreciated the Commissioner for being at the forefront of growth in ABS, as Governor, Willie Obiano has done so well for the broadcast station.

An Ex-Officio of the ABS NUJ Chapel and the Vice-Chairmanship aspirant of the state council of NUJ in the upcoming delegate conference of the council, Mrs. Ngozi Obileri, thanked the Commissioner for living up to his responsibilities and sort his cooperation in moving the state NUJ forward.

Chibuzor Obidike, another member of the chapel, also thanked the Commissioner for always being well disposed to Journalists within the state and beyond.

Later, Mrs. Ngozi Obileri was escorted by the chapel members to the NUJ secretariat to pick her Vice-Chairmanship form.
