The Anambra State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr Uju Nwogu says civil servants who engage in corrupt practices will face prosecution in the state.
Dr Nwogu disclosed this during a training organized for the staff of the Ministry of Lands, Physical Planning and Rural Development, at the ministry’s headquarters in Awka.
The Commissioner represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Barrister Ngozi Iwuno, urged land officers to ensure that they document records of their transactions and to be ready to stand as witness in the law Court whenever there is any case involving their ministry.
She maintained that the training will enable the staff of the Ministry to appreciate the challenges they face while handling cases involving land as a result of lack of relevant documents and evidence and promised to look into some of the hazards officers encounter while discharging their duties.
Appreciating the organizers of the training, the permanent Secretary, ministry of land Mr Edwin Ejike thanked the state government for the initiative, and noted that the training will identify the problems faced by his staff and how to solve them.
The trainers Barrister Chisom Nwajiagu and Barrister Chinese Okonkwo deliberated on the history of land in Nigeria, land use act of 1978, land administration and challenges and called for the digitization of lands in the state for easy administration and management.
The event featured a questions and answers section.
