Prices of goods and commodities have been on the high side because of the Christmas season across various markets in Anambra state.

Speaking to the ABS, a Civil servant, Mrs. Ifeoma Egbosi lamented the price increase on goods and commodities on daily basis in the markets, saying that it has become a source of worry to many, and revealed that she has done her shopping for Christmas on non-perishable goods ahead of time, while perishable goods would be bought later.

She commended Governor Willie Obiano for the prompt payment of workers salary, and called on the good spirited wealthy citizens to put smiles on the faces of the less privileged in this Christmas period.

Another Civil Servant, Miss Chioma Okolue complained of the high price of commodities in the market and attributed it to the increase in import duties by the Federal Government, and pleaded with the government to subsidize import duties to enable the citizens survive the economic hardship in Nigeria, and called on the Federal Road Safety Corps FRSC to ensure a crash free yuletide.

Mr Uchenna Okeke also asked all relevant authorities to intervene, and safeguard Nigerians from the impending hunger due to the hike in prices of foods.
