The Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano and family,  joined millions of Christians worldwide to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ.

The first family marked the day with celebration of a holy mass at their Countryhome, Aguleri in Anambra East Council Area.

Government House Correspondent, Ejike Abana reports that the mass celebration was officiated by the Government House Chaplain, Reverend Father Patrick Okafor in company of other priests.

In a homily, Rev Father Okafor explained that  God sent Jesus Christ  to reconcile and redeem man to Himself

While describing Christmas and Easter celebrations as the bedrock of the Christian faith, Reverend Father Okafor  pointed out that just like Jesus Christ, having a humble beginning doesn’t indicate that God’s people won’t thrive in life.

He explained that genuine forgiveness and love led Jesus Christ to offer himself for sacrifice, asking people to ensure that  Jesus Christ is at the center of their celebration and thanked God for the priviledge of witnessing this year’s christmas celebration, while praying  for better years to come.

Addressing the press, Governor Obiano who wished ndi Anambra a merry Christmas and a prosperous New year, advised people to celebrate carefully in solemnity.

He used the opportunity to appreciate God for Anambra’s peaceful election, just as he asked them to support Professor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration from March Seventeen, 2022.

Wife of the Governor, Dr. Ebelechukwu Obiano and members of the immediate family including Dr. Gechi and Chukwudifu Obiano, Auxiliary Bishop of Onitsha Diocese, Most Reverend Dennis Isizo attended the mass celebration.

The mass which featured renditions by the chior was also attended by relatives, friends and well wishers of the family
