The Bishop-designate, Nnewi Catholic Diocese, Most Reverend Jonas-Benson Okoye, has appealed to affluent individuals to use this festive season to ameliorate the plight of the less privileged and pay visits to orphanage homes.

Bishop Okoye made the plea during the 2021 Christmas Party Celebration, organized for children by Trinitarian Foundation for Orphans and the Helpless, at Neni, Anaocha Council Area.

Correspondent Emmanuel Chigbata reports that the colourful event, which commenced with a Holy Mass, was part of activities to mark the yuletide and share love with the less privileged children.

He commended the Trinitarian Reverend Sisters for organizing such party for children in the orphanage home saying it will make them feel the impact of Christmas Celebration.

In an interview, the traditional ruler of Neni, Igwe Damian Ezeani expressed the community’s commitment to supporting and caring for the inhabitants of the home.

In her remark, the Sister in-charge of the Trinitarian Orphanage home, Reverend Sister Pia Okafor explained that the party was in line with the spirit of Christmas which is about giving and showing love, especially to the less privileged calling for continuous support from concerned citizens.

Also speaking, one of the children of the late Chief Enukeme, Barrister Maureen Okoye said it takes those with Godly hearts to extend love to the less privileged, hence the rationale the Enukeme’s family keeps extending the hands of charity to the orphanage home.

Some National Youth Service Corp Members posted to Anaocha Local Government Area gave the orphans various food items and one of them, Miss Moturanyo Akinboboye said the gesture was to show love and encouragement to the children, who according to her, have gone through great difficulties and lack of parental care.

The event, which featured presentation of various food items to the residents of the home by the family of the late Chief Anthony Enukeme, who singlehandedly built the Trinitarian Foundation for Orphans and the Helpless, climaxed with the consecration of grinding machine and store by Bishop Okoye.
