The traditional ruler of Nibo Community, Awka South Council Area, Eze Michael Ngene communes has called on youths to stay away from drugs.
Eze Ngene made the call at the annual Ezeike Day celebration.
Correspondent Kenechukwu Chukwudi reports tha tthe mood at the Nibo Civic Centre was a memorable one, as many gathered to celebrate yet another Ezeike Day, and the venue of the event came to life with the arrival of the traditional ruler accompanied by the Igba Eze, Cabinet members and titled men.
In his remark Eze Michael Ngene thanked God for making Nibo a blessed community, appreciating the town union executive for remaining steadfast in their quest to bring growth and development to the town.
He also used the opportunity to warn youths against drug abuse, stressing that it leads to death.
The President-General of Nibo Town Union, Chief Innocent Akuvue, said the day provides opportunity for the traditional ruler to interact with his people both at home and in the diaspora, evaluate the level of progress in the community,v while celebrating the culture of the community and thanked God for the thirty-six years on the throne of the traditional ruler.
In an interview, some stakeholders in the community, Chief Chukwuemeka Okeke, Chief John Nwobu and Chief Kenneth Anaemena pointed out that celebrating the Ezeike Day, makes Nibo community unique in its own way, expressing confidence that the community and the traditional ruler would keep moving from strength to strength.
The wife of the President-General of the Nibo Town Union Mrs. Akuvue and the representative of the Nigerian Breweries, one of the sponsors of the event, Mr. Austin Aka, said it is important to keep the culture of the people alive noting that the day offers such avenue.
Masquerade displays, dances and musical performance featured at the event.
