A former deputy governor of Anambra state, Dr. Chinedu Emeka says Ndigbo need to showcase their rich cultural heritage to the world.
Dr. Emeka disclosed this during the 2021 Anam cultural carnival held at Community Secondary School playground, Umueze Anam, Anambra West Local Government Area.
Speaking during the event, Dr. Emeka noted that there is a sterling need for Ndigbo to keep showcasing their rich cultural heritage to the outside world, same way it is done in Botswana and South Africa, as according to him, Ndigbo have rich cultural heritage that will attract tourists from around the world.
Dr. Emeka maintained that Anam Cultural Carnival is a time the people use to showcase their culture and tradition to the world and described the 2021 Anam cultural carnival as a successful one.
In his opening remarks, the member representing Anambra West Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Patrick Obalim-Udoba who is the sponsor of the carnival said that his intention is to use the annual cultural carnival to preach peace, love and togetherness among his people and assured that next year’s event will be a world class cultural display.
For the secretary of the 2021 Anam Cultural Carnival Planning Committee, Chief Gabriel Okafor, the cultural carnival has helped immensely to educate their younger generations, especially those who live abroad and thanked God that the event was a successful outing.
Correspondent Chibuzor Okoye reports that the event climaxed with various masquerades from all the Communities in Anam showcasing their dancing styles to the admiration of all who came from all walks of life to grace the occasion.
