Mrs. Theresa Okoye, has been invested as a “Dame” by the Bishop of Mbamili Diocese, the Right Reverend Obiora Uzochukwu at Saint Michael and All Angels Anglican Church, Umuikwu Anam, Anambra West Local Government Area.
Correspondent Joseph Egbeocha reports that Mrs Okoye, wife of Reverend Canon Patrick Okoye, retired, in addition to the Dame investiture, is the Woman Leader of Soludo Support Group, SSG.
Performing the ceremony during a church service that heralded the investiture into the order of knighthood of Saint Christopher, admission of the legal team and dressing of the vergers, attended by Anglican faithful in the diocese and beyond, including friends and well-wishers, Bishop Uzochukwu charged Knights and Ladies of the church, including all working in the Lord’s vineyard, to show more commitment to the works of God and abide by the rules and regulations of the Anglican Church, warning that sanctions await defaulters.
The Administrator, Cathedral Church of Saint Michael and All Angels Anglican Church, Umuikwu Anam, Archdeacon Chima Nwajagu, who noted that blessings await faithful servants of God, said similar activities by the church in the area have continued to spur upcoming generation to do more for God and humanity.
The Transition Committee Chairman of Anambra West Local Government Area, Honourable Sir Sylvester Okafor, who called for all-round support, and for those elevated to high positions in the Church to be prayerful in order to achieve much for God, said the incoming administration of Professor Chukwuma Soludo will complete ongoing road projects in the area and commence new ones.
Expressing joy over the investiture, Mrs Okoye and her husband, Reverend Canon Okoye, who commended the development Anglican Church has continued to bring to the area, said they have been encouraged, and will continue to work for God.
