The traditional Ruler of Nimo, Njikoka Local Government Area Igwe Maxi Ike-Oliobi has Conferred Ichie title to some worthy sons of the community even as some women from the community were also inducted into the Otu Odu Iyom Owelle Nimo.
The Owelle Palace of the traditional ruler was in jubilation when he danced into the arena, accompanied by Cabinet members, prominent sons and daughters of the community and the Igba Eze, as indigenes both at home and in the diaspora who attended the event cheered the king and his entourage.
While breaking the Kolanut, Igwe Oliobi thanked God for his people and the community, especially for preserving the lives of those present, praying that 2022 will be a better year for all.
The President-General, Nimo Town Development Union, Ekenenna Omabu advised those who have been honored with titles to always live up to the expectations and contribute more to the development and growth of the community.
Some of the men who were given Ichie Title including, Dr. Martin Aroh and Sir Philip Uzoka who are expected to adjudicate on matters in their respective quarters and villages without bias, expressed happiness for the title which they say will make them serve the people better.
Some women who were inducted into the Otu Odu Iyom Nimo, including Lady Nneka Ibida and Mrs. Mercy Onyebuchi also expressed joy for the honor, as they are expected to be good role models to ladies within the community and beyond.
The member representing Njikoka Two Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Honorable Pete Ibida who was also part of the ceremony noted that culture is unique and dynamic, and that the people of Nimo will always uphold their cultural heritage.
Correspondent Kenechukwu Chukwudi reports that different Dance groups, masquerades and important personalities graced the ceremony.
