The Onwa Igbariam Foundation has continued its empowerment of the less privileged within Igbariam and beyond with working tools, scholarship and cash.

Correspondent Kenechukwu Chukwudi reports that the event which started with a Holy Mass, was attended by the Head of the foundation, an entrepreneur and community leader, Chief Lawrence Anikpe, family and host of others at his compound.

In a homily, Reverend Father Justin Ezechukwu, the Chaplain of Divine Mercy Chaplaincy, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital Amaku Awka harped on the need for people to be appreciative of God’s goodness by sharing with one another, as those who share the light of God and exemplify his glory will always be blessed.

Chief Anikpe in his remark noted that the foundation started seven years ago in memory of his late Father, Pastor Raymond Anikpe, as a wish he made while struggling without a Father, that when God blesses him, he will give back to society and urged all to give within their strength.

Those who spoke at the event, including the Transition Committee Chairman for Anambra East Local Government Area Mr Obi Nweke, the President-General of Igbariam, Dr. Chris Oforkansi and a former President-General of the community, Mr. Anthony Obueh said Chief Anikpe is a philanthropist who has benefited the community immensely,noting that his gestures has continued to bring peace and progress to the community .

Some indigent persons who were given bags of rice at the event, including Mrs. Paulina Areh and Cordelia Iwene expressed happiness for the benefactor’s kind gesture and prayed God to bless him always.

The event also witnessed masquerade displays and dance by women group.
