Over one hundred indigent persons from Onneh in Orumba South Local Government Area have received succour from Ezeakunne Foundation.
The event saw eight most elderly men and women smile home with cash of fifty thousand naira each, as one hundred and fifty persons received one bag of rice each.
Correspondent, Emmanuel Okonkwo was there and reports that while twenty-four pupils of Onneh community Primary School and Saint Mary’s Nursery and Primary school Onneh that took first, second and third positions respectively, in the last academic section went home with cash prizes.
Among the twenty-four pupils, those that took first positions received twenty thousand naira each, second positions, fifteen thousand naira, and third positions, Ten thousand naira.
The founder of the Foundation, Chief Vincent Nwankwo said the gesture is driven by his passion for the downtrodden and human capacity development, and assured to touch more lives in subsequent years.
While commending the Governor Willie Obiano – led administration for remembering Onneh community in various ways Chief Nwankwo appealed to the administration to still come to the community’s aid in the area of construction of drainages.
The Wife of the Founder of the Foundation, Mrs Nkiruka Nwankwo thanked God for the vision He gave her husband to assist the less privileged in the society, saying that she will continue to support the vision for its sustenance.
On his part, the Director-General of the Foundation, Mr Anthony Nwafor who explained that what the foundation is doing for the needy in the community has no political undertone, said that the humanitarian service has existed for over twenty years, and will be sustained.
In their separate interviews, the beneficiaries, including Mrs Susana Ilobeleke represented by her sister Mrs Anastasia Nwafor, Mr Agozie Onyekwelu, Master Uche Emmanuel, and Master Nathaniel Ukpai thanked the benefactor for the gesture and prayed for more of God’s blessings on him and his family.
