A well-furnished ultra-modern bungalow built by Oraifite Development Platform, for a widow at Urudunu-Oraifite in Ekwusigo Local Government Area has been commissioned during the first convention of Oraifite Development Platform at Community Secondary School, Oraifite.
In an address, the Coordinator of the Oraifite Development Platform, Mr Bonny Okonkwo said the platform, with the sole aim of fostering the Akulueuno Initiative, is a brainwave conceived in 2021, with one hundred and fifty Oraifite indigenes from all over the globe as members.
Mr Okonkwo explained that the platform paved the way for the construction of the widow’s house while members also take up the project of renovating some dilapidated structures in Oraifite Community Secondary School noting that the renovation of the laboratory and security post of the school are ongoing and thanked members whose donations greatly gave them the impetus to embark on the project.
In a speech, the Chairman on the occasion, Mr Azuka Okwuosa who lauded the initiative, said the mark of greatest lies in giving to those who cannot refund,urged the affluent to look around their villages and assist in any measure.
Mr Azuka Okwuosa who also represented the special guest of honour, Mr Emeka Okwuosa at the event stressed that he embraced the platform because it has to do with development of Oraifite and called for concerted effort towards improving on what the founding fathers did with the aim of leaving a legacy for the children.
The Transition Committee Chairman for Ekwusigo Local Government Area, Barrister Austin Enendu who noted that Oraifite is blessed with rich human resources, said the platform is the beginning of a good thing in Oraifite, added that the state government will continue to do its best for the people just as he urged them to support the government.
Mr Kenneth Nduka who represented the traditional ruler of Oraifite, Igwe Daniel Udorji said education is the best thing to give to a generation and charged teachers of the school to take care of the project to motivate others to donate.
Dissolution and reconstitution of ODP executive, where Comrade Bonny Okonkwo was returned to pilot the affairs of the platform for the next three years featured during the event where thirty-two widows selected from four quarters of Oraifite were empowered with cash.
Staff reporter, Ogochukwu Oranu reports that ongoing projects in the school were also inspected and funds pooled for the project.
The students of Community Secondary school, Oraifite also entertained the people with traditional dance.
