An event has taken place at Ajali the headquarters of Orumba North Local Government Area, to mark the thirtieth anniversary of the creation of the Local government Area.
The celebration featured presentation of Award and conferment of Chieftaincy title on the Transition Committee Chairman of the Local government Area Mrs Ify Obinabo among others.
In his opening remarks, the Chairman on the occasion and traditional ruler of Awa Igwe Isreal Ezue said the gathering is necessary to appreciate God for His blessings and mercies.
He commended the Transition Committee Chairman and her planning committee for making the event a reality.
In her welcome address, the Orumba North Transition Committee Chairman Mrs Obinabo described the Thirty Years of the Local Government Area as a success despite some challenges.
Speaking on the chieftaincy title, Mrs. Obinabo said the Mmiri Doro Edo title conferred on her is a true reflection of her personality which has been felt by all around her.
Mrs Obinabo charged the people of Orumba North to support the developmental strides of Governor Willie Obiano which she said will be sustained by the incoming administration through award of scholarship, empowerment programme, skills acquisition among others.
Also speaking, the Deputy Majority Leader of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Sir Emeka Aforka, expressed satisfaction with the turnout of event stating that the area will keep celebrating their achievements every three years.
Conferring the Chieftaincy title on Mrs. Obinabo, the Chairman of Orumba North Local Government Area traditional rulers council Igwe Godwin Ezeilo of Nanka described her as a woman highly endowed with charitable and humble heart, whose love for God and humanity is immeasurable.
Other awardees and title recipients are Chief Christian Ezeokoli, Professor Kate Omenugha, Chief Chuks Offord and Chief Tony Kenechukwu among others.
In a vote of thanks, the Chairman Planning Committee of the event Mr Eric Muogbo thanked all who graced the occasion describing it as a huge success.
ABS correspondent Faith Onyemuche reports that the event was well attended by Sons and Daughters of Orumba North Local Government Area from within and outside the country as masquerade and cultural displays entertained the guest.
