Uke Community Association, USA has built and handed over an Ultra-Modern Healthcare center to the Anambra State Government.

 

The Association, however, pleaded that the Centre be upgraded to a General Hospital to close the gap that is necessitated by distance of any other general hospital in the area so as to increase the people’s access to healthcare services.

 

The handover ceremony, which took place at Uke Primary Healthcare Center Uke in Idemili North Council area of the state, attracted indigenes of the community both at home and in the diaspora who came to witness the commissioning and unveiling of the facilities built to meet international standards.

The facility has laboratories, offices, over twelve conveniences, six wards, maternity section, examination rooms, dispensary rooms, theatres, storage rooms, consulting rooms and lounge as well as surgery rooms among others with solar powered light and borehole.

 

Commissioning the facility, the Anambra State Commissioner for Health Dr. Vincent Okpala appreciated and congratulated the community for investing wisely and acknowledged that the facility is one of the most modern in the state, assuring that the state will consider the conversion of the facility to general hospital to serve the community and its neighboring towns.

 

The Anambra Health Commissioner who spoke through the Director of Services in the Ministry, Dr. Chukwulobelu Oguchukwu, equally used the opportunity to re-echo the need for communities to reach out to the needy and elderly through enrollment into Anambra Health Insurance Scheme.

The Traditional Ruler of the town, Igwe Chuma Agbala, prayed that God will reward the positive deeds of his subjects in the USA, expressing happiness that the sick and indigent people will receive immeasurable blessings and healings of all sorts at the hospital.

 

Speaking on behalf of Uke Community Association, USA, Chief Joseph Ezeh said that the project was born out of the need to ensure healthy living in their community and assured that they will equally donate computer sets to the center for comprehensive medical records of people for easy assistance.

 

Some residents of the community who received free medical care during the commissioning of the facility, including Mr. Obi Ejiofor-Ejiofor and Mrs Christiana Akana, appreciated the donors and the state government for their interest in quality health care, praying God to continue to bless and replenish them.
