The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor has reminded couples of the need to uphold love and understanding that brought them together to sustain happy married life.

 

Bishop Ezeokafor said this while delivering a sermon during a mass for the wedding of the son of the Vice President Ọhaneze Ndịgbo worldwide, Chief Damian Okeke Ogene, Kingsley Okeke and Chioma Okoli at Holy Trinity Catholic, Church, Nanka Orumba North Council Area.

 

Family members, friends and well-wishers gathered at Holy Trinity Catholic Church Nanka to witness the ceremony.

Bishop Ezeokafor said while wedding is for one day, marriage is a life journey and emphasised the need for couples to build their life in Christ as well as entrench Christian values in their homes to enable them raise children with fear of God to eliminate social vices in the society.  UP SOT

 

Speaking later, the sponsor of the couple and Commissioner for Public Utilities Mr Emeka Ezenwanne said sponsoring the couple gives him a sense of responsibility and obligation to mentor them and expressed confidence that they would make a happy married life.

In her remarks, the wife of the Commissioner Princess Sandra Ezenwanne said marriage demands patience and tolerance that would enable them understand each other.

 

The father of the groom and Vice President Ọhaneze Ndịgbo worldwide Chief Okeke Ogene said he felt fulfilled that his son and the wife were starting their own life and reminded them that marriage as an institution requires commitment from both of them as well as maturity, perseverance and communication.

 

In their separate remarks, the mother of the groom Mrs Ngọzi Okeke Ogene and the mother of the bride Mrs Cecilia Okoli while thanking God for making the day a reality, urged the couple to sustain their love to overcome future challenges.

Also speaking, the National President of Anambra Association of Town Unions, ASATU, Barrister Titus Akpudo said they came to celebrate with Chief Okeke Ogene for the grace of witnessing the wedding of his son which he said is the desire of every parent and urged the couple to dedicate their marriage to God.

 

Responding, the couple Mr and Mrs Kingsley Okeke Ogene said the day was a dream come true and pledged to uphold the love that brought them together and live for each other.
