Chief Chike Nweke of Ndiikpa Village Ezinator, Awka South Local Government Area has been inducted into the prestigious Ozo society of the community.
The ceremony, which was part of activities aimed at promoting the cultures and traditions of Ndi Ezinator, saw members of the community appear in their traditional costumes, together with their Traditional ruler, Igwe Timothy Ezenwaka, performing rituals that follow induction of one into the Ozo society.
Correspondent, Amaka Chibuzor Okoye witnessed the ceremony and reports that Chike Nweke family of Ndiikpa, Ezinator before now, had embarked on community services to immortalize their late father through the Chief Andrew Onebunne Nweke Foundation, which awards scholarships, provides electricity and solar packs, and has now taken the Ozo title to retain the custom of their forefathers.
The Traditional ruler of Ezinator, Igwe Ezenwaka, and Ndi Ozo, after their arrival at the celebrant’s home, were presented with all the necessary requirements needed before one is initiated into the Ozo society.
Welcoming the celebrant into their group, Igwe Ezenwaka prayed for Chief Nweke and asked him to continue with his efforts in developing their community, calling on other sons of the community to emulate him and contribute to the progress, development and unity of Ezinator.
In an interview shortly after the induction, the celebrant, Chief Nweke said he joined the Ozo society to sustain the cultures and traditions of their community which he said has been in their family, calling for its sustainability.
A brother to the celebrant, Mr. Chukwudi Nweke thanked God for the bold steps taken by his brother, stating that now, he will fully be among the decision makers in their community, advising him to seek advice when needed to help achieve results.
Also felicitating with the celebrant and family, a relation, Chief Nathaniel Nweke said Ozo society is the highest body in Ezinator, and encouraged Chief Nweke to continue with his philanthropic gestures in the community, noting that God will continue to bless them.
