Moments of bliss, grace and adoration filled the air as a one-time commissioner and former Unizik Vice Chancellor, Professor Pita Ejiofor and his wife, Lady Vera went for a thanksgiving spree.
The event, which is a double barrel one, was aimed at thanking God for his eightieth birthday and fifty years wedding anniversaries.
Correspondent Onyinye Agubaeze reports that the celebration, which began with a Holy Mass at Saint Paul’s Catholic Church Obeledu, was graced by Senator Victor Umeh, former governor Peter Obi, represented by Sir Joe-Martins Uzodike, the traditional ruler of Obeledu, Igwe Augustine Oragwam, members of Knight of Saint Johns’ International, colleagues, friends and well-wishers.
In a homily, the Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor of Awka Catholic Diocese, congratulated the couple and described them as an example of a blessed union.
In his congratulatory message, Senator Umeh said that the celebrant is worthy of emulation because of his humility, achievements, religious life, commitment to work and family life.
In a vote of thanks, Mr. Tonna Ejiofor, one of the celebrant’s sons, thanked God for his blessings on his family and thanked everyone, who came to celebrate with them.
The daughter of the celebrants, Barrister Nneka Ejiofor-Okpala, expressed joy that her parents are achievers, exemplary citizens, and good parents, who have been very supportive, noting that they are happy to celebrate her parents while alive.
Responding, Lady Vera, who said her joy knew no bounds said she feels elated for God’s grace on her family and thanked everyone, who came to celebrate with them even as she identified love, endurance and perseverance as secrets of their marriage.
Others, who eulogized the celebrants include Igwe Augustine Oragwam of Obeledu Community, the son in-law, Mr. Ifeanyi Okpala and the grand President of Saint John International Ladies Auxiliary, Dr Louise Onyali.
Renewal of marital vow, cutting of cake, dance and presentation of gifts featured at the event.
