The newly sworn-in Head of Service of Anambra state, Barrister Theodora Okwy Igwegbe says workers’ welfare will top her list of priorities while in office.
Barrister Igwegbe stated this shortly after Governor Willie Obiano swore her in at the Executive Chambers, Government House, Awka.

speaking at the SSG’s Conference Hall, venue of the reception, the Head of Service pledged to join hands with the Permanent Secretaries to enthrone a civil service where people will be disciplined, proactive and objective, to ensure efficient service delivery.
While stating that they will do their best to ensure that the state workforce, both serving and retired civil servants , would be taken care of, she assured that they will maintain very good industrial relations.
Barrister Igwegbe noted that her predecessor did very well and stated that the handover process was seamless pledging to continue from where he stopped.
Speaking to the ABS, the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr C-Don Adinuba said that Anambra is about being transformed from a typical third world territory to a first world territory, noting that Barrister Igwegbe is someone who will be able to drive the civil service.
He pointed out that it took United Kingdom, Germany, Holland, Europe and the likes over two hundred years to get to level where they currently operate, while it took Taiwan, Korea, Singapore just thirty years, noting that Anambra state is stepping in the foot steps of the former third world countries to attain the status of a developed Nation within a genreation.
Also speaking, the former Head of Service, Barriter Harry Uduh stated that continuity will give stability to the service, expressing happiness that no vacuum was created with his retirement
Barrister Uduh who described the new Head of Service as sound and erudite, expressed optimism that Permanent Secretaries will give her all the necessary support, while calling on the state work force to put in extra efforts to justify all government investments in the service.
In his reaction the husband of the HOS HOS , Dr. Osita Igwegbe who expressed happiness about the appointment and its attendant challenges, assured that their family will continue to support her to do her work in accordance with the civil service rules.
Barrister Igwegbe is a participant of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, member of the Nigerian Bar Association, member of the Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators, Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants and a Consultant to the British Council.
