Old Boys Association of Community Secondary School Ozubulu, formally Boys Secondary School, has awarded scholarships to seven students of the school from Junior Secondary School level to Senior Secondary School level.
The awards were given by the old boys of 1998 Set of the school during their maiden annual get-together and reunion ceremony held at Ozubulu Community in Ekwusigo Local Government Area.
Correspondent Emmanuel Chigbata reports that the association also erected new signposts to correct the impression that the school access road christened ‘‘Kidnappers Road’’ due to some heinous practices by unknown individuals no longer bears it but now bears College Road which was the real name from the onset.
It equally beckoned on the State Government to give the Secondary School and inhabitants of the area a sense of belonging by constructing the road leading to the school which has now become deplorable to ensure free flow of vehicular and human movements.
In his speech , the Coordinator of the Association, Mr. Emeka Onuorah and the Welfare Officer, Mr. Emeka Ofomata said the association erected the signposts and awarded scholarships as a way of giving back to the society while calling for government’s attention over the deplorable state of the road.
The Education Committee Chairman of the Association, Engineer Ifeanyi Anaehobi and a Member of the Association, Barrister Ejike Okeke, also lauded their former classmates for their commitment towards improving the standards of Education in Ozubulu while encouraging the scholarship recipients to utilize the opportunity and study hard for better tomorrow.
Some residents of the area, including Chief Hycenth Maduakor and Mrs. Chinwe Anazodo, noted that the deplorable state of the road is calling for immediate government attention, to avoid school children falling into the gullies while going to school.
Speaking on behalf of other beneficiaries, Master Onyedika Anakwude and a Parent Mrs. Theresa Nwakile appreciated the old boys for their benevolence.
