Umuchi Village in Ekwulobia, Aguata Council Area of the state has won the 2021/2022 football competition.
The football competition which took place at the Ekwulobia mini stadium attracted all and sundry especially the youths.
Chidinma Ikeanyionwu reports that the tournament kicked off with Okpo village and Agbogume village in the first group at exactly seven o’clock in the morning in the while other villages played in their different groups subsequently.
The football competition had Umuchi village win their opponent Okpo village six – five by penalty shootout.
The event which was organized by the Ekwulobia United Forum, EUF, is targeted at promoting peace and unity amongst the people of Ekwulobia through their many projects embarked by the forum.
While the football league competition was ongoing the members of EUF shared palliatives to the villagers simultaneously.
Among the items shared were twenty-five-kilogram bags of rice, cartons of noodles and five-thousand-naira cash gifts.
Handing over the items, the Chairman, Ekwulobia United Forum Mr Emeka Anajemba, noted that the occasion is a means of reaching out to the less privileged persons in their midst and also a way of promoting togetherness amongst the youth and people of Ekwulobia.
On their parts some of the beneficiaries of the palliative in luding Mrs Obianuju Okechukwu and the captain of Umuchi team Mr Charles Okeke, appreciated the initiative of the forum, thanking them for making the 2022 football competition a reality.
The event climaxed with jubilation from the winning team and their well wishers.
