Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have intercepted forty thousand, two hundred and fifty kilograms of Codeine based syrup.
The schedule two controlled narcotic worth over two billion naira, was imported in two forty fit containers from India.
The drug seizure followed intelligence report from foreign partners and cooperation of other port stakeholders such as Customs, DSS, Navy and others.
The latest consignments intercepted were brought into the country in two containers with a market value of two billion, twelve million and five hundred thousand naira.
A statement signed by NDLEA’s Director, Media and Advocacy, Mr. Femi Babafemi, indicates that the consignments were seized at the Port Express Bonded Terminal, Berger-Apapa after they were discovered concealed behind cartons of hypergra and deluxe chilly cutters by the Agency’s sniffer dogs.
Reacting to the seizure, the Chairman/Chief Executive of NDLEA, Brigadier General Mohamed Marwa said the Agency remains poised to deal decisively with drug cartels.
