Anambra women under the umbrella body of Women Initiative for Greater Anambra, WIGA, has restated its resolve to partner the incoming administration in building a more livable and prosperous Anambra State.

The convener, Mrs. Amaka Obi reaffirmed their commitment during the official unveiling and launching of WIGA membership verification materials in Awka.

Correspondent Valentine Mbadugha reports that while addressing the women during their meeting, Mrs. Obi noted that Anambra women are ready to be partners in progress with regards to growth and development of Anambra State.

She said that the objective of having their members registered is for them to have a database which will enable them build a more formidable group with a common goal.

The chairman, All Soludo Support Groups, Mr. Chinedu Nwoye, who did the official unveiling, encouraged them to sustain the momentum.

He noted that the importance of women to the growth of any society cannot be overemphasize and expressed belief that the incoming Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo will not take the women of Anambra for granted.

Other Special guests at the event, including Chief Jude Emecheta, who is one of WIGA Patrons, Prince Neville Uchendu, the SSG coordinator Lagos chapter, Chief Anthony Okeke and the Interim President Omambala Union, Chief Chris Okonkwo, all commended WIGA for its initiative and urged members to keep making themselves relevant through being valuable.

Earlier, the chairperson, WIGA membership verification committee, Mrs. Benedicta Nwakile while appreciating the committee members for their sacrifices, charged the local government coordinators to be diligent in distribution of the bio-data forms and membership cards.

Some local government coordinators, including that of Onitsha South, Mrs. Ngozi Obidike and her Idemili South counterpart, Princess Nkiruka Ezeyim urged members to prioritize the long-term benefits which is good governance and better future for their children.

Official unveiling and distribution of the materials to local governments climaxed the event as the women chanted songs portraying their valuable impart in the society.
