Governor Willie Obiano has approved the sum of one point six million naira to support Anambra State Association of the Deaf, for its seamless awareness week in the state.
The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra State Disability Rights Commission, Barrister Chuks Ezewuzie disclosed this while handing over the cheque to the chairman of the association, Mr. Amobi Nwangwu in Awka.
Correspondent Chibuzor Okoye reports that while speaking during the event, Barrister Ezewuzie, who thanked Governor Obiano for his support to all the people living with disabilities in the state, including the deaf community, described the gesture as the governor’s unalloyed supports to them.
Barrister Ezewuzie, who is also the Special Adviser to the governor on Disability Matters, called on the deaf community in the state to make judicious use of the fund in order to have a well-coordinated event.
Responding, Mr. Nwangwu, who spoke through an interpreter, eulogized governor Obiano for remembering them and prayed God to always bless him.
In a vote of thanks, a member of the deaf association in Anambra State, Mrs. Nneka Nwume commended Governor Obiano for all his government has done for them.
