Governor Willie Obiano says his administration has consistently maintained cordial working relationship with the Anambra State workforce for almost eight years.
Governor Obiano stated this during the fourth quadrennial delegates conference of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, Anambra State chapter held in Awka.
Declaring the conference opened, Governor Obiano, who was represented by the State Head of Service, Barrister Theodora Igwegbe thanked members of the association for the unalloyed support they have shown to his government over the years through dedication, steadfastness and commitment to duty.
According to the Governor, his administration has maintained the cordial working relationship with the workforce through prompt payment of salaries and allowances, pensions and gratuities, promotions and other emoluments, and assured that whatever problem confronting them that is not attended to before the end of his administration would be taken care of by the incoming administration of Professor Chukwuma Soludo.
The National President of the association, Comrade Tomi Etim-Ekon, represented by the National Vice president, Comrade Dennis Ngene commended members of the association for their selfless service to the nation and urged them not to relent.
In his welcome address, the outgoing Chairman of the association in Anambra State, Comrade Ifeanyi Okechukwu commended Governor Obiano for the prompt payment of workers’ salaries and pensions, as well as the completion of the 2021 promotion exercise.
He regretted that Nigeria is engulfed with so many challenges, ranging from insecurity, terrorism, killings, rape, hunger, poverty, among others, and urged the federal government to immediately address the numerous problems, even as the new Chairman of the association in Anambra State, Comrade Dennis Chika-Momaife promised to lead with the fear of God at all times.
Correspondent Chibuzor Okoye reports that the Anambra State Statistician General, Mr. Emeka Paul-Obiekezie, the State Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Humphrey Nwosu, his Trade Union Congress, TUC, counterpart, Comrade Chris Ogbonna, among others attended the conference.
