The Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Right Reverend Samuel Ezeofor says repentance is very essential for forgiveness and restoration.

In a sermon at Saint James Church Nanka Orumba North Local Government Area during a service to mark the last Sunday before Lent, Bishop Ezeofor charged Christians to repent from their evil ways in order to receive God’s blessings and restoration.

He described disobedience as the greatest barrier between God and Christians, and charged the faithful to always obey God’s commandments in order to reap benefits that follow it.

Bishop Ezeofor regretted the high rate of bloodshed in the society and called for prayers to bring the ugly trend to an end.

The Anglican prelate who is also the National Chairman of the Evangelical fellowship in the Anglican Communion, (EFAC) Nigeria called on those occupying leadership positions to convene a solemn assembly for repentance to pave way for God’s forgiveness.

Bishop Ezeofor who warned Christians against amalgamating their faith with Idolatry, charged them to only engage in those acts that will win more souls for Christ.

In a remark, the Archdeacon of Nanka Archdeaconry Venerable Basil Ndupu who thanked Bishop Ezeofor for the visit, charged Christians to use the period of Lent which commences this Wednesday to build bridges of trust and true reconciliation.

The service which was attended by the president of Aguata Diocesan Women’s Ministry, Mrs. Chinyere Ezeofor featured special prayer for an end to impunity of all sorts in Nigeria.
