The newly appointed Archbishop of Owerri Archdiocese Most Reverend Lucius Ugorji, has emerged the new President of theCatholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria.
He is taking over from the Most Reverend Augustine Akubeze of Benin Diocese whose four-year tenure has ended
Archbishop Ugorji, is to be assisted by Archbishop Matthew Ndagoso of Kaduna Archdiocese as the Vice President, Bishop Donatus Ogun, of Uromi Diocese is the new Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria Secretary while Bishop Peter Kayode Odetoyinbo of Abeokuta Diocese is the Assistant Secretary.
Other Bishops were also elected to oversee various departments and units of the Catholic Secretariat and the new officers are expected to lead the Conference for the next four years.
Recall, that Archbishop Ugorji was formerly the Vice President of the Catholic Bishops Conference in the past administration.
