The National Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Mr. Labaran Maku is optimistic that Anambra State will continue to witness purposeful leadership under the party, in order to further speed up and sustain development of the State.
Mr. Maku, while speaking at the commissioning of the thirteen capacity International Convention Centre Awka, which featured presentation of “Akpokuedike”- Duty Call in Anambra, a book authored in honor of Governor Obiano, as well as Anambra at thirty Awards to deserving individuals, praised Governor Obiano for supporting Professor Chukwuma Soludo, who he believes will improve on his performance at the helm of affairs of the State.
He said history will be kind to the Governor, noting that the newly commissioned International Convention Centre Awka, other signature projects of the Obiano administration, as well as great economic achievements the Governor made signify vision, commitment and leadership for sustainable development of Anambra State.
On his part, the royal father of the day and Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe, explained that the challenges of the Obiano era are different from others, and noted that the Governor has been successful in leading Anambra for the past years, urging him to continue making positive contributions to public life beyond his stay in government.
Mr. Chris Isiadinso, who led ex-Rangers to the event, and who commended Governor Obiano for his developmental strides in office, especially in sports sector, noted that with available standard sports facilities, operational international airport and now the usable International Convention Centre Awka, sports development in the State and accruing benefits can only be imagined, urging the incoming Soludo administration to continuously use sports and other available facilities to expose Anambra to the world and stem crime and criminality.
Some awardees at the event, including the Executive Secretary of Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Drs Mrs. Chioma Ezenyimulu, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, ACTDA, Venerable Amaechi Okwuosa and Stanley Uzochukwu of Stanel limited appreciated opportunities given them to serve; leading to the awards, and promised to continue making positive contributions for the good of the State.
Correspondent, Joseph Egbeocha reports that posthumous awards were equally given to the late Nigerian leader, Chief Nnamdi Azikiwe, first Nigerian Professor of Statistics, Professor James Nwoye Adichie, among others.
