Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Social Development, Gender and Children Affairs has said that the Ministry of Social Welfare, Children and Women Affairs has done exceptional, well.
The committee disclosed this when they embarked on, oversight visit to the ministry.
House of Assembly Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim reports that speaking during the meeting, the chairman of the committee, Honourable Nonso Okafor explained that they visited the ministry to look at their documents and ascertain what they are doing with respect to 2021 budget, its expenditure and other projects accomplished by the ministry.
The committee discovered that the Commissioner for Social Welfare, Children and Women Affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue has discharged her duties creditably and appreciated the ministry for performing exceedingly well in the areas of women development, children welfare and rehabilitation of mentally challenged persons in the state among others.
On her part, the Commissioner, Lady Ndidi told the committee that her ministry executed many programmes that are domiciled within it, empowered thousands of women in various vocations of their choice and cleaned the streets of Anambra State off beggars.
The commissioner further said that the ministry rehabilitated many mentally challenged persons and reunited them with their families and death decisively with street hawking by minors.
