Professor Chukwuma Soludo has been sworn in as the sixth Executive Governor of Anambra State.
The swearing-in ceremony was performed at the Anambra State Government House, Awka, where the oath of office and allegiance were administered by the State Chief Judge, Justice Onochie Anyachebelu.
Today’s inauguration brings it to a total of six civilian administrations in Anambra State counting from Chukwuemeka Ezeife, Chinwoke Mbadinuju, Chris Ngige, Peter Obi, as well as Willie Obiano.
Today’s ceremony started with the oath of office by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, after which Professor Soludo took oath of office and allegiance.
In his inaugural address, Governor Soludo, who revealed that he applied, his party shortlisted him and Ndi Anambra gave him the mandate, promised to work very hard to make Ndi Anambra proud, thanking God and the former Governor Obiano for being a gentleman, as well as all stakeholders for helping to make the day a reality, by insisting on transparent election process.
The Governor assured that he will hit the ground running by holding a meeting of the State Security Council, among others, and sought active cooperation from the federal government and neighbouring states.
While stating that his administration is committed to building a new socioeconomic order, with short term pains and guarantee of a prosperous future, Governor Soludo insisted on patronising local brands.
He promised to use the lean resources of the State to lay the foundation for a new Anambra, promising to conduct local government election in the next two years and reinvigorate the grassroots, among other reforms.
Correspondent, Ejike Abana reports that the ceremony was attended by a cross section of people from within and outside the State, including former Governors Willie Obiano, Peter Obi, Senator Victor Umeh, President General of Anambra State Association of Town Unions, ASATU, Barrister Titus Akpudo, among others.
