The traditional ruler of Umu6eri in Anambra East local government area, I, Igwe Ben Emeka has commended the new management of ABS for the bold steps taken so far in uplifting the fortunes of the station.
Igwe Emeka was speaking at his Oke Ebo palace Umueri today, when the Acting Managing Director of ABS, Mr. Gab Okpalaeze, led the management and members of ABS Revenue Think Tank on a courtesy call to his palace.
Correspondent Emmanuel Chigbata reports that the royal father urged the management to work in line with the aspirations of the acting managing director that in due time, he will be confirmed as the substantive head of the establishment, following his wealth of experience which will be brought to limelight to make ABS the best broadcasting media house in Nigeria.
He assured of more support and continuous patronage to ABS, and commended the staff and management for the global transformation, at both conventional radio television and the digital online media, replete with riveting contents and as well, informing Ndi Anambra in home and in the diaspora with happenings and trends in the state.
Igwe Emeka, on behalf of the leadership of Umueri accepted the apologies of the ABS over a certain content from the station which tended to rewrite the history of the community.
Earlier, Mr. Okpalaeze, said the essence of the visit was to solicit funds to revamp some worn-out and damaged equipment of the establishment such as exciter, vehicles and generators explaining that though ABS radio and television have gone beyond local to national level, over sixty percent of Ndi Anambra do not have access to the terrestrial television, as according to him, revamping of the television would give audience at the terrestrial level access to ABS for information.
Mr. Okpalaeze, informed the traditional ruler of the ABS Revenue Think-tank Committee that will reach out to various clientele to generate more funds for the establishment, just as he said that the ABS Asset Monitoring Committee, will identify and take inventory of all equipment of the establishment and appreciated the role of the traditional ruler towards peace development and assured him that ABS will keep promoting the community and expressed commitment to work in line with the cardinal policies of Governor Soludo.
Mr. Okpalaeze equally said that ABS will continue to showcase the histories, cultures and traditions of Ndigbo to the outside world.
In a vote of thanks, the Vice President of RATTAWU, Prince Emeka Kalu, who thanked the traditional ruler for his support, appealed to him to use his position and reach out to the government to allow Mr. Okpalaeze run the station having garnered lots of experience over the years.
The ABS Head of Administration, Mrs. Tina Ekenta, Director of Programmes, Mrs. Nneka Ekwunife, Head of Engineering, Engr. Paul Okoye, Head of Legal Service, Barrister Juliet Amasiatu among others were part of the visit.
