Civil Society Organization has intensified its campaign against trafficking in persons.

 

It also emphasized the dangers of engaging in such evil act, urging unsuspecting victims to remain security conscious.

this and many more were parts of information disseminated during a campaign against trafficking in persons in Awka.

 

The campaign, which kicked off from the Anambra Broadcasting Service corperate headquarters in Awka, through Aroma, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku-Awka, up Zik Avenue to Nkwo Amaenyi, distributed flyers with vital information against trafficking in persons.

 

Speaking after the walk , the state coordinator, Network Against Child Trafficking, Abuse and Labour, Miss  Eucharia Onyemaobi revealed that there has been an increase in trafficking activities hence the need to educate the people against the ugly menace, especially for them not to fall victims nor become perpetrators of such.

 

The State Commander, National Agency for The Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP, Mrs. Judith Chukwu, said that the menace of trafficking is real and people must be wary not to be lured and become victims.

 

The South East Zonal Coordinator of Network Against Child Trafficking, Abuse and Labour, Mrs. Ijeoma Nnaji explained that trafficking has become a menace in the South East and the need to nip it in the bud is important.

 

Mr. Jude Sanwo of Action Against Trafficking in Person and Smuggling of Migrant, said it’s important to take a preventive approach to end human trafficking and migration, which the sensitization sought to achieve.
