It was a jubilation galore on the streets of Anambra state over Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s release of list of twenty commissioner nominees, as people expressed sense of belonging.

For the ABS family, it was a double celebration as two of her seeds, Comrade Don Onyenji and Honourable Ify Obinabo made the list.

Most of the staff who spoke on the appointment said it has reconfirmed that members of ABS staff are good enough to man exalted positions of trust, recalling that both rose from the ABS ranks.

Comrade Onyenji, who has been the State Chairman, National Vice President of the Zone and Deputy President of Radio, Television Theatre and Arts Workers Union of Nigeria, RATTAWU, largest union for media and cultural workers in Nigeria, was nominated as Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism.

They described his appointment as square peg in a square hole, having retired few years ago as director of programmes of the ABS.

According to them, Honourable Obinabo has over the years in her line of duties in ABS, shown herself as mother hen, whose love for women and children is peculiar.

ABS staff commended the Governor for reposing such confidence in the ability of ABS products to hold higher offices, just as they pleaded that the Governor caps it with the confirmation of their most senior director as Managing Director of the ABS.
