The immediate past Commissioner for Housing, Architect Michael Okonkwo has declared interest to represent the people of Orumba North and South Federal Constituency at the National Assembly.
Correspondent, Ejike Abana reports that he made the declaration when he met with members of the State Working Committee of the All Progressives Grand Alliance at the state party headquarters in Awka.
Architect Okonkwo was received by the State Working Committee of the party led by the Chairman, Sir Norbert Obi.
He was accompanied by representation of people from the area, among whom was the Transition Committee Chairman of Orumba South, Chief Cyprian Okeke.
Architect Michael Okonkwo hails from Ihite, Orumba South Local Government Area.
Introducing Architect Okonkwo as an aspirant, the Ward Chairman of Ihite, Mr. Chris Nnewe recalled that Architect Okonkwo had worked in Imo state under former Rochas Okorocha under the platform of APGA, before coming back home to Anambra and has continued to identify with the party ever since he joined and excelled in all assignments given to him.
Receiving them on behalf of the party, the Deputy Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief Omeligwe Elee assured that the party is wishing f him successful outing and explained that after the party primaries a candidate will eventually emerge for the party.
Presenting himself to the party, Architect Okonkwo stated that he has the pedigree to represent his people, pointing out that his interest is selfless.
He revealed that from available reports, Orumba North and South had been identified as the poorest part of the state with a lot of environmental and other challenges which he said he is interested in changing as his people have beckoned on him to come and salvage the situation .
The APGA Party Chairman in the local government, Mr. Godwin Egwuonwu, and the President General of Ihite, Chief Bonny Nwoye affirmed that the aspirant has fully identified with the fifteen communities that make up Orumba North and South, just as the Zonal Chairman of APGA, Barrister Ben Ibekwe described him as a true party man.
