The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has inspected the ongoing waste evacuation and drainage desilting exercise which commenced  yesterday 2nd April 2022, in Onitsha and environs.

 

Government House correspondent Valentine Mbadugha reports that the Governor began inspection from  Upper Iweka, through Iweka road to Ochanja round about.

He also visited Okpoko in Ogbaru Local Government Area.

 

Addressing the residence of the areas, Governor Soludo reiterated his resolve to build a more livable homeland and urged Ndi Anambra to avoid dumping waste in the drainage system.

 

Governor Soludo also reemphasized the need to end the Monday sit at home which he said has affected the people negatively and reassured his commitment towards the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra.

A business man in Onitsha, Chief Nwabueze Umeh, commended Governor Soludo for his activeness and urged him not to relent in his efforts in making Anambra a better state.

 

He noted that healthy environment is key to building a sustainable smart megacity and advised the people to support Governor Soludo by being law abiding.

 

The Speaker Anambra State House of Assembly, Honourable Uche Okafor, the Chief of staff to the Governor, Mayor Ernest Ezeajuhi, Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu and the Deputy Chief of staff and Chief Protocol to the Governor, Mr Chinedu Nwoye also joined the inspection.

Massive waste evacuation was seen going on at all the places visited as the exercise is meant to last till Monday 4th April 2022 while shops were all locked in compliance to the clean-up exercise.
