Anambra State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, has assured to partner Nnewi Catholic Diocese for a wider publicity of its activities.

The chairman of the council, Dr Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, made the appeal when members of the state executive paid courtesy call to the Bishop of Nnewi Catholic Diocese, Most Reverend Jonas-Benson Okoye in his office at Nnewi.

Correspondent Queen Anigbogu reports that Dr Odogwu stressed the need for the media arm of the diocese to create a chapel noting that with the support of the state council of the NUJ, the efforts of the Bishop in the diocese will go a long way.

He commended the Bishop for championing the course of the youths and prayed God to grant him all that he requires to succeed in the diocese.

Responding, Bishop Okoye described the visit as very significant noting that he was particularly touched by the recent security issue in Anambra State.

He pointed out the enormous pains and sufferings residents of the state are passing through because of the issue and affirmed that Governor Chukwuma Soludo is working tirelessly to make Anambra State to work.

In a vote of thanks, the Assistant Secretary, Comrade Okey Onuegbu, described the situation in Anambra State and Nigeria in general as pathetic.
