Anambra State Deputy Governor Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, has inspected the de-silting of sakamori drainage system in Okpoko, Ogbaru Local Government Area and commended its pace of work.

According to Dr. Ibezim, the exercise is in line with the directive of Governor Chukwuma Soludo aimed at de-silting the drainage system which was blocked by refuse dumps for years.

On arrival to the site, it was observed that excavators were already de-silting the drainage system for free flow of water to prevent flooding.

During the visit, Dr. Ibezim was accompanied by the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Mr. Ifeanyi Okoma and the team set up for waste evacuation and De-silting of drainages.

Dr. Ibezim commended the level of works at the site, saying it is work in progress.

He observed that at the point of termination, the invert of sakamori is higher than that of the Idemili river which connected to the river Niger, directing the Commissioner for works and the waste evacuation committee to apply every technicality that will make smooth flow of water into the Idemili and Niger River.

On his part, the Commissioner for Works, Mr. Okoma commended Governor Soludo for his efforts towards making Anambra a smart mega city, assuring that all challenges at the Invert point of the sakamori and that of the Idemili will be overcomed soon.
