Today is Easter in the Christendom.
Easter, also called Pascha or Resurrection Sunday, is a Christian festival and cultural holiday commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead and was described in the New Testament as having occurred on the third day of his burial following his crucifixion by the Romans at Calvary.
Christians all over the world are observing today as Easter.
It is a day the faithful commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead three days after his crucifixion on the cross of Calvary over 2000 years ago.
Easter is being seen as the highest Christian festival because without the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, there would be no hope for Christians.
Services will be held today in all the Churches to mark the day.
The Federal Government had earlier declared tomorrow a public holiday to mark Easter Monday.
Meanwhile, the Anglican Bishop of Ogbaru Diocese Right Reverend Prosper Amah has charged Christians to use the period of Easter to build bridges of trust and total reconciliation among one another.
In his Easter message delivered at the Bishops Court Atani, Bishop Amah cautioned the faithful against Acts capable of making Easter lose its concept and meaning.
Bishop Amah charged Leaders at different levels to emulate the humility of Jesus Christ in their service to ensure even development in the society.
He called on Christians to use the period of Easter in seeking God’s intervention in a series of challenges confronting the nation, especially insecurity.
