It was a shout of Halleluya across Christendom as Jesus Christ rose from death.
The proceedings, reading and decorations of the church have also turned from mourning to jubilations as all appeared in white, signifying that the risen Christ is the hope and faith of Christians, who are celebrating the Easter.
In a sermon to mark the Easter Service at Saint Peter’s Anglican Church, Amawbia, the Vicar, Reverend Canon Vincent Nkemdilim, who spoke on the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the core of Christian faith, the body of Christ left the tomb showing that the power of resurrection is unique and everything is possible with Christ.
Reverend Canon Nkemdilim noted that as Christ defeated death, so shall it be unto his followers because they will surmount all life challenges and difficulties, encouraging them to continue to spread the good news of the power of resurrection.
At Saint Joseph’s The Walker Chaplaincy, Awka, the Vicar Two, Reverend Father Cyriacus Ogbuka described the resurrection of Jesus Christ as the basis of Christianity adding that it gives them hope that death has no power rather, a journey to eternal life.
Reverend Father Ogbuka encouraged the parishioners to be proud of their faith and spread it.
At the Mount Zion Redeemed Bible Church, Awka, Reverend Dr Sam Dike maintained that Christ is their peace and has reconciled Christians with God and through his resurrection, everything that is dead in life has become new.
Meanwhile, the Archdeacon, On the Lake Archdeaconry and Vicar Saint Stephens Anglican Church, Agulu, Venerable Silas Ike defined the resurrection of Jesus Christ as the identity of all Christians because no other religion has such peculiar experience.
Venerable Ike noted that as Christians, they have overcome all powers positioned to pull them down by the enemies because the mighty wind of resurrection has pulled everything down, urging all to serve God with dedication.
Correspondent Amaka Chibuzor-Okoye reports that joyful shouts of Halleluya and thanksgiving climaxed the services and Holy Mass celebrated to commemorate the Easter celebration.
