Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has reassured of his government’s commitment to partnering the church in all areas.
Governor Soludo gave the re-assurance at the Cathedral Church of Saint Faith, Awka, during the ninth investiture into the orders of the Knighthood of Saint Paul, Saint Christopher and Ladies of Bethany of the diocese of Awka, Anglican Communion.
Correspondent Emmanuel Chigbata reports that the governor, represented by his Deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim stated that the present government will not relent in supporting the church as it is known for its efficiency in service delivery.
Governor Soludo, who congratulated the knights, implored them to give maximum support to the church as they have been called to work for Christ.
The Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger and Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim, who performed the investiture prayed for the new administration.
Some of the new Knights, including Sir. Gregory Obiefuna and the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Barrister Emeka Ohuoha, expressed readiness to win souls for Christ through their new position in the church.
Meanwhile, the deputy governor, Dr Ibezim, had earlier graced a wedding ceremony between Mr. Nonso Emeka and Miss Jenifer Oguora at the Church of Pentecost, Government House Awka, which also attracted the former Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano.
