The Archbishop of Onitsha Archdiocese, Most Reverend Dr. Valerian Okeke has charged the inmates of Onitsha Correctional Centre to have strong faith in God.
Archbishop Okeke gave the charge during his annual visit to the correctional centre.
Correspondent Festus Obierika reports that the visit attracted a political stalwart, Professor Patrick Utomi, the member representing Onitsha two Constituency in the state Assembly, Honorable Edward Ibuzo, Comptroller in charge of Anambra State Correctional Centre, Mr. Patrick Chukwuemeka, ASUBEB Chairperson, Mrs. Francisca Ego among others.
In his homily during the visit, Archbishop Okeke, whose homily centered on ‘God will rescue you’ said it is an indication that God’s hand is upon the lives of his people, assuring that God will do for them, what no one can do.
He further reminded the congregation that God is capable of rescuing them from all their tribulations, if only they will embrace and believe in Him.
The Catholic Prelate, who promised to make functional, their skills acquisition center,described the correctional center as a ‘United Family’ and assured them that, they will soon, move from nothing to something.
Appreciating the Archbishop, the Chaplain of Onitsha Correctional Center, Reverend Father Barth Okpalugo extolled his annual visit which according to him, restores the hope of the inmates.
Reverend Father Okpalaugo also disclosed that the archbishop, who visits the inmates three times in a year with different food items and beverages, also fed them with undiluted message of hope.
In his speech, the comptroller, Chief Chukwuemeka thanked the Archbishop for his yearly visit and prayed God to bless him noting  that the resurrection of Jesus Christ is the hope for man’s salvation.
In separate interviews, Honorable Ibuzo and Professor Utomi said they came to celebrate Easter with the inmates as a way of giving them a sense of belonging as well as reminding them that everything on earth has its time and season while assuring them that they will be free one day.
The visit featured presentation of food items and beverages by Archbishop Okeke, thanksgiving, and special rendition by the prison choir.
